About Us

Family Mediation Central Scotland is a not-for-profit organisation working with families across the Forth Valley who are experiencing the effects of divorce, separation or family breakdown. We are an independent, local charity, providing both Family Mediation and Child Contact Centre services. We are also affiliated to the national body, Relationships Scotland, and we are part of the Relationships Scotland Network of Local Services covering the whole of Scotland.

Our Aim

Our aim is to help and support families and children who are experiencing the effects of separation, divorce or family breakdown. The conflict, upset and emotional upheaval that can arise from separation and family breakdown can cause lasting pain and distress within families. Our role is to help to reduce these effects and, where possible, to strengthen family relationships.

History

Family Mediation Central Scotland has been operating in the Forth Valley for 30 years. We started by first offering mediation, in June 1984 – only the second Local Family Mediation Service to do so in Scotland. Our first Child Contact Centre opened in April 1993 in Alloa, followed by one in Falkirk in January 1997 and, finally, Stirling Contact Centre opened in February 2004. We now offer families a range of services, including mediation, child contact and other types of family support.

Area of operation

We offer services covering three areas – Stirlingshire, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire. Our main office is in central Stirling, but we also operate Child Contact Centres locally in Falkirk and Alloa.
